Sally Lee

for Classic Elite Yarns   1992

390 Sonia Delaunay

Lee was clearly a designing artist rather than an artistic designer. Her work is rarely anything but bold, exuberant, and confident in the extreme. This piece is rather a wonder, in that the original yarn is still available even after almost 20 years (in fact so is the Montera recommended as an alternate is you don't like mohair). It's a rectangle with a crew front neck and flat sleeve tops with no internal shaping except the back neck. The entire sweater is charted, so that demands a bit of attention. But for those with a love of intarsia and colourplay, this is a terrific exercise in creativity.
